A police chase in Prestwich resulted in a collision involving multiple vehicles, leading to the arrest of four individuals.

Four individuals were taken into custody after a police pursuit culminated in a collision on Bury New Road in Prestwich. The incident occurred around 8:30 PM on Sunday, prompting the cordoning off of the road as emergency services responded.

The pursuit was initiated by Greater Manchester Police after officers responded to a burglary in Stockport around 8 PM. The chase ended in a crash involving a Ford Transit van and two other vehicles, with reports indicating an extensive police presence, including a helicopter overhead.

According to a spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police, none of the individuals involved sustained life-threatening injuries. Following the incident, the police's Professional Standards Directorate is evaluating whether a referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct is necessary, in accordance with standard procedure.

Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with debris scattered across the road, including a traffic light that had been knocked over. Eyewitnesses noted the severity of the crash, stating that a van appeared to have collided with a car emerging from a nearby Tesco, resulting in significant damage and traffic disruptions in the area.
