A nursery worker from Stockport has been sentenced to three years in prison for ill-treating four infants entrusted to her care.

Rebecca Gregory, 25, was convicted on 2 September 2024 after pleading guilty to offenses involving children up to 12 months old at Tiny Toes Nursery. The police investigation was initiated following the seizure of CCTV footage from the nursery's baby room.

The footage captured disturbing incidents, including Gregory's aggressive comments toward a crying baby, and her heavy-handed treatment of the children. Despite her actions, the children did not suffer any visible injuries.

Gregory admitted her wrongdoing during police questioning and pleaded guilty at Stockport Magistrates' Court on 5 August 2024. The sentencing took place at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court.

Specialist Prosecutor Karen Tongue expressed concern over the breach of trust placed in Gregory by parents. Detective Constable Natalie Pettit described the investigation as harrowing, highlighting a culture of inaction towards inappropriate behavior at the nursery.
