A resident of Failsworth has received a prison sentence for his involvement in the islamophobic riots that erupted in Manchester city centre earlier this month.

A man from Failsworth has been sentenced to two years and five months for his participation in the violent disorder that occurred during a demonstration in Manchester city centre.

The riots on August 3 followed the tragic stabbings of three young girls in Southport, which prompted racist thugs to organize 'marches' under the pretext of protecting children, while in reality, they incited hatred and violence.

Four individuals appeared before Manchester Crown Court on August 16, having pleaded guilty to violent disorder. Among them was Kane Kelly, a 24-year-old from Oldham. The other offenders received varying sentences, with one receiving three years and two months.

Detective Inspector Andrew Naismith of Greater Manchester Police remarked on the ongoing efforts to hold accountable those responsible for the violence, highlighting the identification of 108 suspects, with 82 already charged. He emphasized that such mindless acts would not be tolerated in the community, and further actions would be taken against those involved.
